The best Montenegrin athlete Marija Vuković finished the high jump competition at the Olympic Games in ninth place, jumping 196 centimeters.
Director of the Sports and Youth Administration, Vasilije Lalošević, said that it was an excellent ranking.
"Marija, well done! You are the pride of Montenegro and our athletics, which has obviously started an upward trajectory. You fought bravely, bravely, heartily and won the sympathy of all of us in Montenegro and beyond. Being part of the Olympic Games is already a success in itself, and winning a high 9th place is a truly remarkable feat. We wish you the best of luck in your further career, convinced that this is just a great start for you," Lalošević announced, adding that her success should be seen as an additional incentive for the development and propagation of athletics .
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić congratulated Marija Vuković on everything shown in the final.
"You achieved a result that we can all be proud of," said the Prime Minister.
"Well done Marija. Today, Montenegro is proud of an excellent sports result, the promotion of our athletics and the dignified representation of the country at the Olympics in Tokyo. We know you can do more and we look forward to your new heights," wrote President Milo Đukanović.
"We enjoyed watching the way Marija Vuković defends the colors of our country. Congratulations on the huge success for Montenegrin sports and Montenegrin athletics. Congratulations to all the other athletes who represented Montenegro with dignity at the Olympic Games," said Assembly President Aleksa Bečić.
Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said that it was a special feeling of pride to watch Vuković at the Games in Tokyo.
"The greatest success in the history of Montenegrin athletics has been achieved. This is a real example for the young generation and an obligation for the state to invest much more in the queen of sports," he said.
