The Paralympic Games in Tokyo will be officially opened tomorrow at a solemn ceremony that will be held in front of the empty stands of the National Stadium, respecting the corona protocols, the organizers announced.
The XNUMX-member Montenegrin delegation will be in the ceremonial parade.
For the first time in the history of the Games, the flag will be carried by two athletes.
Montenegrin flag bearers will be table tennis player Filip Radović and athlete Marijana Goranović.
Radović said that it is a great honor for him to represent his country at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, and especially to carry the flag on behalf of all Montenegrin athletes at the opening ceremony.
"It is a great privilege for me and I hope to justify the trust shown. There is no point in talking about the result at this moment. At the moment, my biggest goal is to be ready for the first matches in the group stage. If I manage to play the tournament at my level, I think that I can achieve a good result," Radović told the MINA agency.
Montenegro will be represented in Tokyo by five athletes, who will compete in three sports - table tennis, athletics and swimming.
Table tennis players Radović and Luka Bakić, athletes Goranović and Miloš Spaić and swimmer Ilija Tadić will perform.
The official opening of the Games is scheduled for 13:20 p.m. Montenegrin time, or XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. local time.
Among the Montenegrin athletes, the table tennis players will be the first to take part in the competition, who will compete in the singles section from August 25 to 29.
After a day of rest, the team part awaits them, which is scheduled from August 31 to September 3.
On August 27, Goranović will compete in the shot put, while on September 1, he will throw the discus.
Shot putter Miloš Spaić will take to the throwing field on August 30, and Ilija Tadić will swim the 50-meter freestyle the day before.
