In 2023, Montenegro will organize the European Championship for volleyball players in the cadet competition (U17), announced the OSCG.
It will be the first time that the U17 European Championship will be held in a 16-team format, which was decided earlier this year on board CEV.
"After the successful organization of the U17 European Volleyball Championship, which was held in October 2020 in Podgorica, I am sure that our friends in Montenegro will use their experience and sense of initiative to successfully organize another high-standard competition, offering way to give young volleyball players the opportunity to compete at the international level and continue to develop," said CEV president Aleksandar Boričić.
CEV's announcement also states that this will be the third time that Montenegro organizes a major European competition (together with Serbia in 2013, it jointly organized EuroVolley U18 in the women's competition), then it is recalled that Igor Vušurović won the gold medal in Sydney in 2000 Olympic medal, and it is also emphasized that "Montenegro established itself as a strong volleyball nation that played in the finals of the European championships in 2019 and 2021".
"We thank CEV for their trust. It is a great honor for us to host the best European volleyball players of that age, we will do everything in our power to organize the championship in the best possible way, to be at an even higher level than the organization of the EP for girls We will use this opportunity to promote men's volleyball in our country, our goal is to include as many boys as possible. We wish all guests a pleasant stay in Montenegro, we will do our best to make them feel comfortable with us and we can't wait to get together," he said. is the president of OSCG Cvetko Pajković.
