Montenegrin kickboxer Miroslav Vujović did not qualify for the finals of the World Championship in Italy.
Today, in the semi-final fight of the super heavyweight category, in the K1 discipline, he narrowly lost by points to Anto Širić from Croatia.
Vujović, who by placing in the semi-finals secured the bronze, sent his opponent to a knockdown in the second round, but lost the advantage in the third round.
This is Vujović's second bronze at the world championships, after he was third in 2017 in Budapest.
"I am proud of the achieved result. I achieved my goal - I won a medal and qualified for the World Games. I confirmed my good form from the previous competitions, but I am sorry that I did not qualify for the final. And I was close. In the second round, I fiercely shook the opponent and sent him to the floor, but I didn't manage to bring the match to the end properly and celebrate," Vujović said.
Another Montenegrin representative, Remzija Dacić, was stopped in the quarterfinals.
Dacić won in the low kick, category up to 75 kilograms, at the start against the Canadian Džef Brejk.
In the medal match, he was defeated by the Ukrainian Sviatoslav Hašiuk.
"Vujović lived up to expectations and won bronze. It remains a pity that he didn't make it to the finals. Dacić was stopped in the quarterfinals, he recorded one victory. It was his return after a long break, so the result was expected. All in all , I am satisfied with the performance of our competitors in Italy. I consider this a great success for Montenegrin kickboxing," concluded Radonjić.
At the World Championship, referee Moris Lazarevic received a professional referee's license.
