Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has been penalized by moving back five places at the start of Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.
As announced by his team, the Briton was sanctioned for changing the engine beyond the allowed quota for the season.
The penalty will not apply at the start of sprint qualifying on Saturday at the Interlagos track in Sao Paulo.
The Brazilian Grand Prix is the third and last race of this season, which has a new format with a qualifying sprint race, the results of which will determine the positions at the start of the race itself.
Hamilton was the fastest in the first practice session today, followed by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez from Red Bull.
