Mirko Vlahović, a Montenegrin kick-boxer and winner of medals at world and European championships, died today at the age of 48.
Vlahović was one of the best kickboxers of his generation, one of the symbols of that sport in Montenegro.
He won four bronze medals at the world championships (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007), was European champion in 2004, vice-champion in 1996, 1998 and 2000, and third in 2006 and 2008.
He was seriously wounded in the stomach four years ago, in a shooting in front of the "Buda bar" cafe, in Stanko Dragojevića Street.
He was also wounded in a shooting in November 2014 at the cafe "Mr Kul" in Podgorica, where he was employed as a security guard.
