Vuković achieved her greatest success since the restoration of independence, as she qualified for the finals in Tokyo in the high jump and won 9th place.
Furtula took 24th place in the discus throw, and this year he also broke the national record with a throw of 65,59 meters.
At the end of 2021, Marija Vuković is in 9th place in the World Athletics Federation (IAAF) rankings, and she is fourth in the ranking of the European association.
Furtula is 29th in the world and 15th in Europe.
The high jumper from Cetinje won gold medals at the Balkan Championships (indoor and outdoor), as well as at the Games of Small European Countries, and Furtula was also the Balkan champion.
Medals were also won by Tomaš Đurović (silver in the shot put at the Games of Small Countries) and Dragan Pešić (bronze in the decathlon at the Balkan Championship).
