The athlete, Marija Vuković, was chosen as the best athlete of Montenegro in 2021 in the traditional selection of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK).
Apart from her, the candidates for sportsman/athlete in 2021 were: Vojin Ćaćić (volleyball), Jelena Maksimović (karate), Jovanka Radičević (handball), Jovica Marković (shooting), Miroslav Vujović (kickboxing) and Stefan Vukotić (ju dziku).
This summer, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Vuković was 9th in the high jump, which is the most significant result in the history of Montenegrin athletics.
In addition, this year she won gold medals at the Balkan Indoor Championships in Istanbul and the Balkan Outdoor Championships in Smederevo, and the gold was at the Small European Countries Championship in San Marino.
She triumphed at the rallies in Athens, and finished seventh at the European Indoor Championships.
