The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, attended the award ceremony for the most successful athletes and national sports teams in 2021, which was held today in Villa Gorica.
He congratulated Marija Vuković, who was declared the best athlete of Montenegro in 2021 by the decision of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee.
"I am happy that the Montenegrin public recognized your hard work and in this way thanked you for the extraordinary games, crowned with this, I'm sure, favorite award," said Bečić.
This summer, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Vuković had the fourth result in the high jump final with a jump of 196 centimeters, and she took ninth place due to the greater number of attempts, "which is the most significant result in the history of Montenegrin athletics".
In the announcement of the Parliament of Montenegro, they added that this year Vuković won gold medals at the Balkan Indoor Championships in Istanbul and the Balkan Outdoor Championships in Smederevo, and she also won gold at the Small European Countries Championship in San Marino.
She triumphed at the rallies in Athens, and finished seventh at the European Indoor Championships.
At the ceremony organized by COK, awards were presented to the best young female athletes, boxer Bojana Gojković and karate player Milena Jovanović, as well as the best young athletes, water polo player Miroslav Perković and boxer Petar Liješević.
The best national teams are water polo and the women's handball team.
For the first time, COK awarded special awards for exceptional promotion of Montenegro and Montenegrin sports, which were awarded to Nikola Vučević, Stevan Jovetić and Stefan Savić.
The award for meritorious sports worker went to Dragan Drobnjak.
The awards to the most successful athletes of Montenegro for the year 2021 were presented by the President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dušan Simonović, Vice-President Boro Mračević and Acting General Secretary of the Olympic Committee Igor Vušurović.
