Begović: Irregularities with WADA have been cleared, there is no danger of suspension

Acting director of the Administration for Sports and Youth, Marko Begović, said that the Administration has removed all irregularities related to compliance with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and that there is no danger of excluding our athletes from all competitions.

In the announcement, he said that Montenegrin sports, in the coming period, expect significant changes with a focus on protecting the rights of athletes and sports workers, on the one hand, and ensuring the concept of sport for all, on the other hand.

"As I promised upon taking office, I undertook to solve the problem caused by the unprofessional and unscrupulous actions of the previous management structures in sports and youth affairs. Namely, the Sports and Youth Administration eliminated all irregularities related to compliance before the deadline with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), where there was a danger that Montenegro would be punished by excluding our athletes from all competitions, and in the event that we are not excluded, the athletes would not perform under our flag and anthem," said Begović.

He said that the Montenegrin public "does not have to worry about the potential suspension of our athletes, but can focus on their great performances."

"The medicinal value of this process is reflected in the fact that a partnership relationship with relevant international organizations has been established and expert-technical support for the new institutional arrangement has been provided. In the coming period, Montenegrin sports expect significant changes with an emphasis on the protection of the rights of athletes and sports workers, on the one hand, and by providing the concept of sport for everyone, on the other hand," concluded Begović.
