The film "The Way of the Empty Fist" - a story about the successes of Montenegrin karate fighters

The documentary film "The Way of the Empty Fist", which deals with the history of Montenegrin karate, was promoted today.

The film was directed by Miloš Todorović, the film producer is Mirko Đurović, the executive producer is Vladan Šljukić, and it was made by the production company "Extreme Productions".

The film covers the time period since the arrival of the Japanese master Tetsui Murakami in 1964 in what was then Titograd. Murakami's arrival is the first karate event in Montenegro, also one of the first in the then SFRY.

In the film, the participants recall the day when they established karate in what was then Titograd under almost impossible conditions.

Most of the participants are former karate players of the local clubs Student and Mladost, which represent the two first established karate clubs in Titograd, also in Montenegro.

As such, the Student and Youth karate clubs are the dominant themes of the film.

There was a great rivalry between those two clubs that their karate fighters fought not only on the tatami but also on the streets of Titograd.

The SOFK organization resolved the situation by making a decision in May 1977 to merge the two clubs into one.

In this way, the Karate club Budućnost was born, which started a new era of Montenegrin karate.

"Budućnost" soon becomes the dominant Montenegrin karate club. It is about a club that raised karate in Montenegro to the level of the most trophy sport. The number of cups and medals won is counted in thousands.

It is a little known fact that it is one of the most trophy-winning clubs on the planet, counting all sports, and definitely the most trophy-winning club in Montenegro.

One of the honorary participants of the film is Dr. Ilija Jorga, a legend of not only Yugoslav but also world karate who continuously transferred his knowledge to Montenegrin karate players and, as he says in the film, made them champions.

In addition to karate, the participants of the film talk about socializing in what was then Titograd, SFR Yugoslavia, and share anecdotes from that time. The film abounds with large and unique photo and video documentation related to Titograd, Montenegro, SFRY...

"The Way of the Empty Fist" is a collection of authentic stories told first-hand, about the set of circumstances that resulted in the appearance, i.e. by establishing a new, exotic and at first misunderstood sports discipline - karate.
