Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal (25), winner of the "Tour d'France" in 2019 and the "Giro d'Italia" last year, was successfully operated on in Bogota after the accident he experienced during training on Monday.
Bernal hit the rear of the bus, which suddenly stopped, and suffered a fractured pelvis and knee damage.
He also has chest injuries.
Sabana Hospital announced that Bernal will spend the next three days in the intensive care unit, where they expect a gradual improvement in his condition.
