Marija Vuković will perform at the World Indoor Championships on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the second result in the world this season in the high jump.
She jumped 196 centimeters, only Australian Eleonor Patterson (199) has a better result than her.
"I feel good, I'm healthy and I'm ready, but I also feel the pressure. I wouldn't want to disappoint, first of all myself, and then all those who expect something from me, cheer for me and support me. On the other hand, I know where I am and at what level, I know what I'm worth and I have to balance all that before the performance," Marija told Sportfem.
Her results are such that it is logical for her to think, even for a moment, that anything is possible in Belgrade.
"First, I'm in the top 12, I'm in the finals of the World Championship. Second, I don't like to look at it that way, because under pressure I just 'don't work'. I would be lying, however, if I said that I don't expect to be in the top five, but this is a high jump, many factors affect the performance in a big competition, at a certain moment... I will try, I hope and succeed, to focus on I enjoy the moment, the jumps, just like I did last year," Vuković points out.
She will be accompanied by coach Joana Siomu, as well as fans.
"My brother and sister will be in the stands, but also a lot of 'my people'." For the first time in a big competition, I will have a lot of support from the fans. I will try to turn their presence and their applause into my advantage, so that they give me an additional wind at my back...", said Marija.
In addition to Maria, Eleanor Paterson (Australia), Jaroslava Mahuchka (Ukraine), Nadezhda Dubovickaja (Kazakhstan), Emily Bortvik (Great Britain), Mirela Demireva (Bulgaria), Safina Sadulajeva (Uzbekistan), Elena Valortigara ( Italy), Angelina Topic (Serbia), Rachel McCoy (USA) and Svetlana Radzivil (Uzbekistan).
