She jumped 195 centimeters, one less than her best result in her career, standing at a height of 198, which was exceeded by Australian Eleonor Patterson, Ukrainian Jaroslava Mahuchik and Kazakh Nadezhda Dubovitskaya.
The competition did not start in a good way, she fell in the first attempt at an initial height of 184 centimeters, but such a start did not hinder her.
She was confident at 187, from the second time she jumped to 192 and was already among the seven best in the world at that moment.
And when she brilliantly flew over 195, it was clear that the ranking would be even better, and that she was entering the circle of candidates for a medal, among the four best in the world!
Only Paterson, Mahučki and Dubovickaja have jumped that height, also on the first attempt.
However, in order to win a medal, she had to achieve a career jump - 198 centimeters, because she had more attempts than her competitors, who also had better results than her in their careers (Mahučik 204, Dubovickaja 200, Paterson 199, Vuković 197). .
Mahučik immediately flew over 198, but Dubovickaja fought back, and Patterson won on the second attempt.
Marija could not exceed that height, she remained at 195 and in a great fourth place in the world.
Dubovickaja could not go over 198, so Mahučik and Patterson continued the fight for the gold.
The Australian flew over two meters, for the first time in her career, and the 20-year-old Mahučik overcame that height on the third attempt, and at 202 centimeters she shone and jumped from the first jump.
Patterson broke once, then raised the bar to 204, but it was too much of a challenge for her.
