Just a few days after she won fourth place at the World Indoor Championships in athletics, Marija Vuković was in a different role - as a promoter of the "Train with Olympians" project, which is implemented by the Montenegrin Olympic Committee.
Marija and judoka-Olympian Jovana Peković visited the students of "Bedri Elezaga" elementary schools in Ulcinj, "Mirko Srzentić" in Petrovac, "Jovan Tomašević" in Virpazar and "Boro Vukmirović" in Rijeka Crnojevića.
Girls and boys had a unique opportunity to socialize, meet and practice with medal winners and participants of the biggest sports competitions, because the standard physical education class was replaced by a somewhat different and more entertaining lecture, but also filled with socializing, motivational speeches and various games.
"I am glad that I had the opportunity to participate in this project. I am not often in Montenegro and this was the right moment to join. Children are really the decoration of the world and I love being around them. I hope that I contributed to them having fun and wanting to play sports. When they get to know us like this, they will understand that we are ordinary people, which should also be a message to them that no matter what they do in life, no matter how successful they are, the most important thing is that they remain good and down-to-earth people", said Marija Vuković. .
"A wonderful day behind me filled with laughter, play, socializing. It is always a pleasure to spend time with children, especially when they are hardworking, diligent and disciplined. It was an honor for me to pass on to them some of the knowledge I have in the field of sports. The great team that was with me completed this day", said Jovana Peković.
In addition to promotional activities, COK donated basketball, volleyball and soccer balls to schools as part of the "Train with Olympians" project.
The project was supported by the International Olympic Committee, through its Olympic Solidarity Fund.
