Paralympian Filip Radović won the gold medal at the French Open Table Tennis Championship, and he won the gold medal by winning the Montenegrin final against Luka Bakić.
Radović won 3:0 (11:3, 11:7 and 11:5) in the town of Voisin de Bretonneux, near Paris.
Earlier today, in the semi-final match, he eliminated the ninth player in the world, the Spaniard Jose Manuel Reyes 3:1 (11:7, 10:12, 13:11 and 11:3).
In the quarter-finals, after a reversal, Bakić was better than the Italian Lorenzo Cordua 3:2 (11:2, 9:11, 7:11, 11:3 and 11:9), and in the semi-finals he won against the first seed and the third player in the world , Paralympic vice-champion from Tokyo, Frenchman Matteo Bohas 3:2 (2:11, 7:11, 11:5, 11:8 and 11:8).
Both Montenegrin table tennis players with maximum performance and without losing a set finished the competition in the group yesterday.
In group 2, with three maximum wins, Radović took first place and, as the second seed, won direct placement in the semi-finals and secured a bronze medal.
In the first round he defeated the Chilean Farias Manuel Felipe Echavaguren 3:0 (11:4, 13:11 and 11:5), while in the second he was more successful than the Italian Lorenzo Cordua 3:0 (11:9, 11:5 and 11:8).
In the third round, he won against Mateo Skute from Luxembourg 3:0 (11:3, 11:7 and 11:7). Bakić also finished with maximum performance, as the first place in group three, after winning against the Thai Patrik Kankgam 3:0 (11:3, 11:7 and 11:5), the Spaniard Manuel Ruiz Reyes 3:0 (11: 9, 11:4 and 12:10) and Filip Hein from Luxembourg 3:0 (11:4, 11:1 and 11:2). Coach Nikolae Lupulescu said that he was satisfied with the performance of the Montenegrin national team.
"Congratulations to the boys. After the injury, Radović played a very stable and quality tournament. Bakić showed strong quality and psychological progress, especially in the match against the silver medalist from Tokyo, the Frenchman Bohas," Lupulescu said.
He emphasized that it was an excellent prelude to one of the strongest tournaments that Montenegrin table tennis players are expecting in Laško next Sunday.
"The goal is known, the placement of Radović and Bakić at the World Championship, which will be held in Granada, Spain at the beginning of November," Lupulescu said.
