Support to the Chess Federation will be even stronger, with a special focus on the development of young chess talents, announced the Minister of Sports and Youth, Vasilije Lalošević.
He hosted a reception for the President of the European Chess Union, Zurab Azmaiparashvili.
The meeting was also attended by the President of the Chess Association Jovan Milović and member of the Board of Directors and honorary vice-president of the European Chess Union (ECU) Veselin Drašković.
It was announced that the reason for the meeting is the upcoming European Team Chess Championship for women, which will be held in Montenegro next year.
Minister Lalošević informed the guest about the recent institutional change in the competent body for managing the policy of sports and youth development.
Lalošević also emphasized that in the previous period, while he was acting director of the Directorate for Sports and Youth, he had excellent cooperation with the Chess Federation of Montenegro.
"The work of the Chess Federation has always been worthy of respect, which is also confirmed by the fact that Montenegro continuously hosts prestigious international competitions in this sport, including the European Women's Championship," said Lalošević.
Azmaiparašvili thanked Minister Lalošević for the reception and called for joint cooperation on the plan of promoting and improving chess in Montenegro.
"I am convinced that your country and the Chess Federation, by organizing this championship, will once again confirm the role of a good host," said Azmaiparashvili.
Lalošević emphasized that he particularly appreciates the importance of the championship for the development of that sport in Montenegro.
"It is also important for the development of sports tourism, bearing in mind the large number of participants from abroad and chess fans who are attracted by such competitions to be our guests," concluded Lalošević.
