Eliminating the inherited problem with the Athletics Federation was one of the priorities of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said Minister Vasilije Lalošević, stating that he was obliged to achieve top results of male and female athletes continuously.
Lalošević, who during the meeting with the leaders of the Athletics Federation, said that the state must respect the independence of the work of sports organizations, and therefore the decisions of their bodies.
He announced that the ministry will monitor the needs of sportsmen and women and that, in partnership with national sports federations, they will fulfill them to the satisfaction of all those who are the best Montenegrin representatives in the world.
It was announced that the reason for the meeting was the agreement on co-financing the program of the Athletic Association, which was not signed due to the association's problems with the Sports and Youth Administration in the previous period.
"They also discussed the upcoming Balkan Junior Championship in Bar, which will be held on June 12, the status issues of male and female athletes and further joint cooperation on improving the environment for their work, as well as the necessary steps to implement the project of building an athletics track in Podgorica", it was announced after the meeting .
The president of the Athletics Association, Gojko Banjević, thanked Minister Lalošević for his quick reaction and elimination of the problems that, he said, made the signing of contracts and financing of athletics in Montenegro questionable.
He emphasized that due to his previous experience with Lalošević, as well as today's reaction, he is convinced that the cooperation between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Athletic Association will be at the highest level.
