The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, met today with the President and General Secretary of the International Electronic Sports Federation, Vlad Marineska and Boban Totevski, who are on an official visit to Montenegro, at the invitation of the Montenegrin Electronic Sports Association (SESCG), as part of preparations for the European Championship. in fudbal in September in Podgorica.

As announced by COK, Simonović reminded that SESCG, as the umbrella Montenegrin esports organization, is a member of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, and that he believes that "the synergy of traditional and esports can bring good results, which, according to him, was proven by Marineska itself, which by the way, the general director of the International Judo Federation."

"Also, Simonović announced his full support in the future work of the Alliance, as well as initiatives that could accelerate the progress of this field not only in Montenegro, but also beyond. Marinesku thanked President Simonović for the reception and pointed to the constant development of esports as well as that Montenegro managed to position itself on the global esports map, where he specifically referred to the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, which was among the first to institutionally recognize the importance of this area," the announcement reads.

At the meeting, as they state, there was also talk of announcements related to electronic sports being part of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

"Regardless of the outcome, I believe that the world gaming community should first be given space to express themselves on this issue," said Marinesku in a statement, adding that the development of electronic sports can bring benefits to every country in terms of sports, economics and promotion.
