The women's volleyball team of Montenegro was defeated today in Pljevlje by Finland 3:1 at the start of the European Championship qualifiers.
Montenegro played well in the first set, won that part of the game, and then a drop followed, so Finland easily won.
"We started well, but Finland is a good technical and tactical team, which took advantage of our shortcomings in blocking defense. They played calmly, perfectly, concentrated. We didn't manage to find an answer the whole time. I knew our problem was blocking in zone two , we did it through training. But training is one thing, the game is another. I apologize to the audience, I hope we will improve the impression on Wednesday," said coach Milorad Krunić after the game.
The next match is on Wednesday, also in Pljevlja, and the opponent is Iceland.
"We opened the match nicely. Excellent play from both sides in the first set. Finland kept their cool after the first set. We didn't. Some of our problems surfaced and picked up our energy somewhere. We were anemic in the second and third sets. Nothing was lost , I hope that we will play better from game to game. Who knows - maybe we will make up for this loss against the Czech Republic," said Tatjana Bokan.
