President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) Dušan Simonović and Minister of Sports and Youth in the Government in the technical mandate Vasilije Lalošević congratulated Marija Vuković on winning the silver medal at the European Championships in Munich.
Tonight in Munich, Marija Vuković jumped 195 centimeters and only because of the greater number of attempts at that height she was behind the golden Ukrainian Jaroslava Mahuchih.
"Fantastic result of our best athlete! The silver medal from the European Championship in the queen of sports is coming to Montenegro for the first time, thanks to Marija Vuković. We believed in Marija and we believe that this wonderful girl and great sporting asset will make us happy many more times at the OI in Paris. Congratulations to Maria, her professional team and the Athletic Association," said Simonović.
Marija is one of eight athletes for whom COK provided Olympic scholarships, through the Olympic Solidarity Fund, for the period until the end of the Olympic Games in Paris. This year she also won gold at the Mediterranean Games in Algeria and made great results at the indoor high jump championships.
"Another in a series of Maria's victories for our Montenegro, now historic, to the pride of all of us! Your silver shines like gold! We were all with you tonight. Thank you for the dignified presentation," said Lalošević on this occasion.
