The Ministry of Sports and Youth will organize three events to mark the European Week of Sports.
The main goal of the European Week of Sports, which is being held for the eighth time in Europe, and the fifth time in Montenegro, from September 23 to 30 (but, due to the scope, some activities will also be carried out during October) is to contribute to increasing the number of active citizens, as and raising awareness of the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
The three events that the Ministry will organize are Fun run/Podgorica, Be active village/Podgorica and Be active ride a bike/Kotor.
FUN RUN
The Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Athletic Association of Montenegro, will organize the recreational race "Fun Run" for the fourth time.
The three-kilometer athletics race will be held on October 3, starting at 17.00:XNUMX p.m.
The start of the race is scheduled from the hill of Gorica, and the finish line will be opposite the City Stadium, on "Argentina" Square.
The Ministry announced that the expected number of competitors is 300.
"The goal is to include as many citizens as possible who, together with professional athletes, will send a message about the importance of physical activity through the said race," said the Ministry.
BE ACTIVE VILLAGE
The central event of the European Week of Sports called "Be active village" will be held on October 6, from 17.00:20.00 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. at the "Morača" sports center (Sports and recreation area that includes volleyball and indoor soccer fields and a park between them).
"At the mentioned location, there will be about 25 promo points where COK, POK and national sports federations will have the opportunity to distribute promotional materials and organize activities through which we will all contribute to the popularization and affirmation of sports," said the Ministry.
BE ACTIVE RIDE A BIKE
The bicycle race "Be active ride a bike" will be held in Kotor on October 9, starting at 11 a.m.
"Discussions are underway with the Municipality of Kotor and the Cycling Association of Montenegro. The goal of the project is for citizens to participate in a demonstration cycling race that they will ride together with national team members in cycling and through this activity send a message of the importance of engaging in sports activities."
EUROPEAN WEEK OF SPORT AMBASSADOR
The first BeActive Ambassador in Montenegro is former handball player Ana Milačič.
"She started in Budućnost from Podgorica (two double crowns). She won the Serbian Cup with Naisa from Niš, where she spent one season. With Lokomotiv Zagreb, she was a finalist in the Croatian Cup. Two seasons in Metalurg from Skopje were crowned with a double crown. She celebrated winning the Greek Cup with the Paoka team from Thessaloniki. With AEK Athens, she won the double crown for two years in a row. She passed all national team selections, was captain of the cadet national team of Serbia and Montenegro in Gore, captain of the junior national team of Montenegro, member of the senior national team of Montenegro. She is the winner of the award for exceptional sports results on the international level and the promotion of Montenegrin sports and values awarded by the Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine! She was chosen as the best handball player of Greece in 2018."
For five years, she worked as a coach in the junior selections of the clubs where she actively played.
"She ended her professional playing handball career in 2020. She graduated from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the UCG in Nikšić. She speaks English and Greek," the Ministry of Sports and Youth announced in a statement.
