Adrijan Blanchard, spokesman for the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke about Canadian players in the KHL.
"We Canadians cherish values such as freedom, democracy and the right of people to determine their future. Athletes who decide to play and accept the roles of Russia and Belarus must explain their decisions to the public. Our Government has a decisive position - Canadians should avoid all trips to Russia and Belarus", emphasized Blanchard and added:
"If they are in Russia or Belarus, they must leave immediately. Our ability to provide consular services could become extremely limited," Sportsnet quoted Blanchard as saying.
Currently, 48 Canadian hockey players are playing in Fonbet clubs of the KHL championship.
