The Montenegrin men's table tennis team, consisting of Filip Radović, Irfan Čekić and Filip Radulović, achieved an excellent result in Helsinki and qualified for the next round of European Championship (EP) qualification, while the senior women were stopped in Athens.
As announced by the Table Tennis Federation (STSCG), after the defeat in the first round against the host Finland, with a total score of 3:1, where the only victory was achieved by Radulović, the Montenegrin seniors were convincing against Latvia.
STSCG stated that the result was 3:1, two victories for the Montenegrin team were achieved by Radović, while Radulović triumphed once.
"Thanks to that result, Montenegro continues the qualification as the second in the group, and the dates of the matches and the composition of the groups in the next round will be determined later," STSCG said.
They said that, unfortunately, the senior women did not manage to make a surprise in Athens, in the second round of qualifications for the EP.
STSCG stated that Snežana Ćulafić, Ivona Petrić and Simona Perović were defeated in both matches by the national teams of Wales and Greece, with a score of 3:0.
This means that our best table tennis players will not participate in the European Championship, which will be held in Sweden in September next year.
