The Minister of Sports and Youth, Vasilije Lalošević, hosted the Ambassador of Ukraine, Oleg Gerasimenko, today.
Lalošević opened the meeting by emphasizing that sport is an area that brings people together and broadens horizons, and that in this field, the Ministry is open to deepening cooperation between these two countries.
Lalošević added that the continuous solidarity of Montenegro with the people of Ukraine, and the benevolent and friendly relationship that the state authorities of our country have towards the said country, will remain unquestionable, and that the department headed by him is at the disposal of Ukrainian athletes and young people.
The Minister introduced Ambassador Gerasimenko to some of the Ministry's activities and pointed out that, when it comes to the sphere of youth, not only sports, there is a possibility of cooperation in the form of an exchange, which would mean that representatives of youth from Ukraine stay in Montenegro.
Ambassador Gerasimenko thanked Minister Lalošević, not only for the reception, but also for the warm words addressed to the people of Ukraine.
"I want to thank both you ministers and the people of Montenegro for their support and solidarity in these difficult times for my country. The humanitarian, military-technical and financial assistance of the Government of Montenegro to the people of Ukraine will never be forgotten. I especially appreciate two documents, which were signed between the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazović, and our President, Volodymyr Zelenski. Thank you for that," Ambassador Gerasimenko said.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the Department for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Miloš Lalević and officials in the Ministry of the same name, Milica Adžić and Branko Stešević.
