The two-time winner of the Tour de France cycling race, Slovenian Tadej Pogačar, was successfully operated on after breaking his left wrist during the race in Belgium, his Emirates team announced today.
This 24-year-old Slovenian cyclist was injured yesterday when he fell on the 85th kilometer of the Liege - Bastonj - Liege race. Pogačar was immediately transferred to the hospital in Genk, from where, according to the estimate, he will go home today.
His team stated that he will then undergo rehabilitation, and it is not known how long the recovery will take and whether the injury will affect his preparations for the Tour de France, which begins on July 1 from Bilbao, Spain.
Pogačar planned a vacation after the Liege - Bastonj - Liege race and was not supposed to participate in the Giro d'Italia, which starts on May 6.
