The round table on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Sports will be held tomorrow in Podgorica, organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, it was announced from that Government department.
It is stated that the goal is to listen to all interested entities that are directly or indirectly affected by the Law on Sports.
"After the public discussion, the working group will carefully consider all received comments, remarks and suggestions and accept those solutions which are objectively of the highest quality and which represent a significant improvement of the legal text," the statement of the Ministry of Sports and Youth reads.
It is stated that the interdepartmental working group prepared the text of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Sports guided by the goals defined by the Government's medium-term work program 2022-2024.
The proposed changes include the improvement of the financing model of sports umbrella organizations and national sports federations by abolishing the public competition and introducing the obligation of mutual consultation between the Ministry and sports organizations.
"In this way, umbrella organizations of sports and sports federations would no longer be in uncertainty when it comes to funding from the state, but the level of responsibility in planning regular annual activities increases," the announcement reads.
The draft also specified the procedures for the election of the Council of the Anti-Doping Commission, as well as the financing of its regular activities in terms of monitoring compliance with anti-doping rules.
The registration procedures of sports organizations have also been simplified to an objective extent.
"The proposed changes include improving the position of the umbrella organization of sports - the Montenegrin Olympic Committee through harmonization with the Charter of the International Olympic Committee and the introduction of a safer and more independent financing model, as well as the creation of assumptions for the establishment of the Montenegrin Olympic House," the announcement reads.
The new legal document foresees the introduction of the obligation to choose the athlete of the year and the corresponding award for the achieved result in the category of Paralympic sports, which further strengthens the position of the Paralympic Committee and additionally evaluates the results of Paralympians.
The public hearing was scheduled until April 11, lasting 20 days.
It was additionally extended until April 27 and will be concluded tomorrow with a round table in the university's Sports and Culture Center at 13:30 p.m.
