Montenegrin taekwondo at the World Senior Championship in Baku will be represented by three competitors - Anđela Berishaj, Zinedin Bećović and Vasilije Peruničić, the Taekwondo Federation announced.
The championship is scheduled from May 29 to June 4, and will gather 949 competitors.
Berishaj, who will make her debut in major competitions in the senior competition, said that the championship in Baku is an opportunity to meet the world's best female competitors.
"That's what I dreamed of, to one day stand face to face with Olympic, world and European champions on the biggest stage. I know that experience is not on my side, but I'm here to show what I can do and give my best, whoever it is on the other side of the tatami," Berishaj said.
The junior vice-champion of the world, speaking about the upcoming championship, said that she has no fear, but that there is a positive nervousness that is always present at major competitions.
"I have no fear and I look forward to every fight with great impatience. I have a great desire to prove myself and that's why I always go for victory. This is just the beginning of my journey, I know that I am one of the youngest participants in the championship, but I believe in myself and hope for a good placement." , said Berishaj.
At the beginning of April, she won the qualification tournament in Bucharest and qualified for the European Games in Krakow.
Berishaj, who is not yet 18 years old, will compete on the tatami of the Crystal Hall in Baku on Tuesday, in the category up to 73 kilograms.
Zinedin Bećović, who will compete tomorrow in the category up to 68 kilograms, will be the first to enter the arena. Vasilij Peruničić's performance in the category up to 3 kilograms is scheduled for June 74.
Montenegrin competitors are led by coaches Balša Radunović, Vlado Stanišić and Nikola Gegaj.
