Sport is the best mechanism for the promotion of Montenegro, said Minister of Sports and Youth Vasilije Lalošević and stated that greater investment in sports infrastructure is needed.

He spoke in two panels, one of which related to understanding the challenges of top sports in small European countries, while the other dealt with the topic of the development of recreational sports, i.e. sports for everyone in those countries.

Lalošević emphasized that Montenegro can boast of exceptional sports achievements, which, among other things, include a silver Olympic medal, as well as numerous gold medals from European and world competitions in traditional Olympic sports such as handball, water polo, judo.

"This is precisely the reason why we proudly point out that sport is the best mechanism for promoting our country. Accordingly, I believe that the level of investment in the sports sphere of Montenegro requires a higher level, in order to reach the international standard," said Lalošević.

He stated that on this occasion an amendment was initiated which will be integrated into the Law on Sports, and which will aim to improve the protection of our athletes, for their benefit.

Lalošević said that the Ministry and partners initiated work on the Olympic House, which will include the Olympic Museum, the Olympic Academy and the Olympic Hub.

"The development of sports infrastructure is one of the prerequisites for the development of sports in every country, including ours, and I will do my best to approach these great initiatives in the best way and to ensure that they are maintained for our athletes and the well-being of Montenegrin sports," said Lalošević.

As reported, he also spoke about children's sports, the "Sport for All" association, as well as the European Week of Sports.

The president of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, as well as the ministers responsible for sports from Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta and San Marino will also participate in the conference.
