Montenegrin taekwondo representative Anđela Berishaj completed her debut performance at the World Championship in Baku in the 1st round.
Today, at the start of the competition in the category up to 73 kilograms, the member of Besa was defeated by the Korean Debin Li 2:0 (6:1 and 4:3).
The former Asian Games champion and world number two came to victory after a turnaround and an exciting second round.
Berishaj, who made her debut in senior competitions in Baku, is the junior vice-champion of the world, and at the beginning of April she won the qualification tournament in Bucharest and qualified for the European Games in Krakow.
The coach in the club and the national team, Nikola Gegaj, said that the decisive factor was the nervousness and great respect of his competitor for the opponent.
"Trema did her part and had too much respect for her opponent, her experience and results. This was especially evident in the 1st round, in which she was completely 'taken away'. In the 2nd round, she returned to the match, did well and led until the very end. In the very finish, the Korean managed to turn around and win the match," said Gegaj to the MINA agency.
He pointed out that he emphasized that Anđela confirmed her magnificent talent with her release in the second round.
"It remains regrettable that she did not last until the end and won the second round. I'm sure she would be the right one in the third," said Gegaj.
Zinedin Bećović ended his performance at the championship yesterday, with a defeat in the 2nd round of the category up to 68 kilograms.
Vasilij Peruničić's performance in the category up to 3 kilograms is scheduled for June 74.
Montenegrin competitors are led by coaches Balša Radunović, Vlado Stanišić and Nikola Gegaj.
