After Nikšić, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi and Pljevlja, in 2023, table tennis arrived in Tivat.
As part of the "Tenball in Tivat" project, and in cooperation with the Municipality and the Tivat Tourism Organization, three TEQ tables were set up in this city, namely in the yard of "Drago Milović" Elementary School, at the auxiliary stadium of FC Arsenal and in SC Župa.
On this occasion, on Friday, June 23, a TEQ sports promotion was held, in which elementary school students, members of the younger categories of FC Arsenal, as well as young volleyball players from the Gimnazijalac Volleyball Club participated.
The promotion was also attended by the president of the municipality, Željko Komnenović, vice-president of the municipality, Andrija Petković, PhD, secretary for social activities, Olivera Mišković Vidović, manager of the municipality, Patricija Pobrić, director of elementary school, Slavka Mirković, director of the Tourist Organization Nina Lakićević and director of SC Župa, Predrag Kovačević .
"They are excellent tables for taekball, but also for volleyball and table tennis. This is just the beginning of our cooperation with the Taekbol Association of Montenegro. We will set up six tables at six locations in Tivat. Taekball is the sport of the future, and the municipality of Tivat looks to the future. I sincerely hope that Tivat will have its representative at the Olympics through taekbol. Whatever happens, we plan to popularize this sport in Tivat. We are also preparing a spectacle in mid-August on the Riva," said the vice-president of the municipality, Dr. Andrija Petković.
"I will use the opportunity to thank the Municipality of Tivat and the Tivat Tourism Organization for their support in the implementation of this project. The multifunctionality of TEQ tables is the message we wanted to send to children, because many sports can be played on this table. After setting up six tables, on August 19 and 20, we will organize a big table tennis tournament on the Pine waterfront," said Milorad Šutulović, president of the Tennis Association of Montenegro.
Before the tournament in Tivat, the new tournament of the Montenegrin takball league awaits the takball players in July, as well as the start of the Adriatic takball league. Taekball will also make its debut in a multisport competition, in the company of numerous Olympic sports, at the European Games, which will be held from June 21 to July 2 in Krakow.
