The 58th Inter-Municipal Youth Sports Games (MOSI) started yesterday in Kolašin with a ceremonial parade of participants, which brought together almost 2.000 athletes from 29 cities in Montenegro, Serbia, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.
A total of 124 teams will participate in this year's event, competing in 13 sports disciplines.
Maša Obrenović, Miloš Bulatović, Srđa Kovijanić, Dunja Vlahović, Balša Danilović and Dragana Rakočević, prominent Kolašin athletes, brought the MOSI flag. According to the tradition of the event, volleyball player Milan Kićo Obrenović gave a solemn commitment on behalf of the athletes, and on behalf of the referee Lazar Ćetković.
The Games were opened by the President of the Municipality, Vladimir Martinović, who referred to the fact that the manifestation begins at a very difficult time for Kolašin, due to the death of two young people from that city.
"As the President of the Municipality, I have a human and moral obligation to express deep regret on behalf of all the citizens of the municipality of Kolašin and on my own behalf for the loss of two lives in a traffic accident two days ago. We all grieve together and sympathize with them, but, on the other hand, the Municipality of Kolašin owes a great deal of gratitude to the families who, in these difficult moments, showed great understanding for them towards this type of competition and what we had to do as local events," he said.
Martinović said that the local administration, the youth and you, the people of Kolašin, made efforts to make Kolašin a good host.
"We are sincerely dedicated to sports and healthy lifestyles, because MOSI is not an ordinary event, but an idea about socializing, renewing old friendships and establishing new ones. They are a review of youth, beauty and sports. Playing sports allows us to be open and caring," said Martinović.
The President of the Municipality wished the contestants a fair competition and "wins on the sports fields and in life, as well as that you leave Kolašin with a good feeling".
On behalf of the MOSI Assembly, Vasilije Bulatović presented awards for their long-term contribution to the development of games to LJubivo Vranić, Miladin Ikonić, Bahrija Kujundžić, Zdravko Šubara and Enver Gusinjec. Basketball player Vlado Šćepanović also greeted the participants.
"I know that the people of Kolasin will be excellent hosts, because this is a big event with a long tradition. I was a participant in Ariljo, 33 years ago, so everything remained a fond memory. My message to young people is to never give up, not only in sports, but also in life," said the celebrated basketball player.
MOSI is accompanied to Kolašin by more than 40 journalists from the media of three countries. The entertainment program started last night with a concert by Peđa Jovanović and the band Crveno i crno. Among the numerous guests, including the presidents and their associates from the participating cities, was the Minister of Sports in the Government of Montenegro, Vasilije Lalošević.
