The premier edition of the regional teqball competition, the Adriatic Teqball league, which will be held in five cities from the region, will open with a tournament in Bar on July 30.
The Taekball Federation of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Municipality of Bar, and under the auspices of the World Taekball Federation (FITEQ), will gather the best men's doubles players from five countries in the region, who will compete in a tournament whose prize fund is 2.000 euros.
The tournament is of the "open" category, it was announced that interested couples can register on all platforms of the Taekbol Association of Montenegro, and at the premiere in Bar, together with the Montenegrin players, the participation of the national teams of Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia is expected.
"We are very glad to be a part of this story, thanks to the organizers for the invitation, I hope that the tournament will pass in the best possible order and that the weather will also serve us, as well as that there will be a lot of audience. I hope that the Adriatic League project come to life and that everyone who participates in the organization will contribute to taekwondo being at an even higher level in the countries of the former SFRY this summer as well as in future years. I also believe that such a competition can contribute to the improvement of relations between all countries, because sport has a role to unites, and in taekwondo it may contribute to the development of new champions who will be at the top world level," said the Serbian national team player, member of one of the best doubles teams in the world, Nikola Mitro.
The hosting of the first Adriatic Teqball League (ATL) tournament in Bar is proof that teqball is becoming increasingly popular in Montenegro, but also in the region, so this summer four more cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia will be ATL stations.
The next stop is Sarajevo on August 12.
"We are extremely honored that a new story, a great idea, which can be of great importance for takball as a sport in Europe, will start from Bar, which significantly influenced the spread of takball in Montenegro and its popularization. The organization itself ATL would create better conditions for the progress of takball and attract talented athletes to dedicate themselves to takball at a higher level, get closer to something that the Hungarians, French, Poles have... It is very important that all representatives of the region support each other and together create better foundations for progress in this sport, which has a serious potential to be on the program of the Olympic Games in the upcoming period, which confirms the debut of racquetball at the European Games in Krakow this summer," said the president of the racquetball association of Montenegro, Milorad Šutulović.
"We owe a great deal of gratitude to the Municipality of Bar, whose managers saw how interesting takball can be and how serious the ATL competition can be. Therefore, I am sure that our organization and the city of Bar as host will meet all expectations," stressed Šutulović.
Thanks to the Municipality of Bar, which was among the first in Montenegro to recognize the advantages of takball as a sport perfect for recreation but also an interesting sport in a competitive sense and set up tables on the territory of the city, takball will also be promoted in the form of open training on the TEQ field, on the promenade of Kralj Nikola.
"Tekball, as a new sport on the territory of Montenegro, characterized by dynamism and interestingness in the game, very quickly gained popularity both among competitors and among recreational players. It was recognized as such by the Municipality of Bar and the Secretariat for Sports and Youth, which is was the reason for the local administration to provide full support for the implementation of all activities related to teqball. In cooperation with the teqball association of Montenegro, we strive to contribute to the improvement of sports in the city, the promotion of some new contents, but also to improve the tourist offer of Bar, which is becoming an increasingly attractive destination. We are convinced that Bar, otherwise recognized as a city of sports, will once again prove to be a great place for holding sports events, and that there will be even more similar competitions and championships in the coming period," said Goran, Acting Secretary of the Secretariat for Sports and Youth. Apart from the fact that the city under Rumija will be the scene of the best takball in the region, delegations of organizers from all ATL member countries will also be staying in Bar, who will exchange ideas and models of joint work in the future at joint meetings.
Also, a seminar will be organized that will bring together judges from neighboring countries.
The audience in Bar will be able to enjoy the attractive moves of the best men's doubles in the region, and even more reason to visit will be the big prize draw, sponsored by Intersport and whose winner will win the TEQ table.
The ATL tournament in Bar is great for the promotion of the tourist attractions of the city and the potential for sports tourism, and that teqball is ideal for such a thing is also confirmed by the presentation of the sport itself at various attractive locations in Žabljak, which hosted the second tournament of the Montenegrin Teqball League (MTL ).
