Đinović before the EP: I hope to fulfill the expectations and achieve the goals I have set

Montenegrin para shooter Milan Đinović will compete tomorrow at the European Championship in Rotterdam.

Đinović will compete in the air rifle discipline, in the SH1 R3 mix category.

It will be his third appearance at international competitions this season, after he achieved the minimum qualification standards (MQS) for the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024 at the Grand Prix in Hanover and the World Cup in Osijek.

Đinović is expecting extremely strong competition in the SH1 R3 mix category, in which 34 shooters will fight for a place in the final.

"Tomorrow I compete in my first European Championship (EP) in para-archery. I have prepared well and I think I am ready. I hope to meet the expectations and achieve the goals I have set. The competition is extremely strong, but I hope for the best," he said. Đinović to the MINA agency.

At the beginning of May in Hanover, he finished seventh in the finals at the Grand Prix meeting, thereby achieving the norm for the EP and achieving the minimum qualification standard for Paris.

At the World Cup in Osijek, in the second week of July, he was fifth, with a confirmed minimum qualification standard.

Coach Željko Božović said that Đinović fulfilled expectations by qualifying for the championship in Rotterdam.

He emphasized that the competition will be extremely strong, stating that the ten best shooters in that category have arrived in Rotterdam.

"In controlled matches, Đinović achieved results worthy of the EP final. It is not imperative for us, but it would be nice if the Montenegrin shooter in his EP debut shoots in the final," said Božović.

According to him, it would be extremely important for Đinović to confirm the MQS norm (625 laps) for the Paralympic Games in Paris as well in Rotterdam.

"It is important that this result be higher because the team has a greater chance of getting a wild card," said Božović.

Commenting on the chances of Djinović reaching the Games in Paris, he emphasized that, unfortunately, direct slots for Paris will not be distributed in the SH1 R3 mix discipline at the championship in Rotterdam.

"At next year's European Championship, as well as at one of the World Cups, three direct slots will be distributed. This is where we see our chance," concluded Božović.

The start of the competition is scheduled for 13 hours and 30 minutes.
