Podgorica and Montenegro will host the 2025 European Judo Championship, Prime Minister Dritan Abazović announced on social media.
After EuroBasket 2005 and the European Handball Championship last year, the capital of Montenegro will organize another continental championship.
"Montenegro in Podgorica is organizing the biggest sports event in the history of our country," added Abazović.
He stated that Montenegro won in fierce competition.
"It will also be the biggest event in the history of our sport that will be held here. It is planned that over 4.000 participants will gather during the championship in Podgorica. I congratulate the Ministry of Sports and Youth led by Vasilij Lalošević, the Ministry of Finance led by Aleksandar Damjanović, to the leadership of the Judo Association, Jovica Rečević and his colleagues, who are most deserving of this feat, as well as to everyone who contributed to this common winning project," wrote Abazović.
He concluded that he hopes that it is just one of many important sports events that will be hosted by Montenegro.
