The men's kata team of the Montenegrin karate team finished their performance at the senior World Championship in Budapest in the first round.
The women's team also experienced defeat in the fights, at the start of the team part of the competition.
The team - consisting of Vladimir Mijač, Kenan Nikočević, Arijan Kočan and Nikola Milić - was separated by 0,3 points from the second round.
The bronze medalists from the European Championship in Guadalajara finished sixth in the group with 39,1 points.
That result in the other three groups was worth the second round of the competition.
"We had an extremely strong group, but I expected that we would encounter serious obstacles only in the second round. Their performance was good, but not good enough to pass. There is a lot of time until the next big championship, but we will have to arrange everything already tomorrow shortcomings and to seriously approach the preparations for the future," said coach Milena Milačić to the MINA agency.
Commenting on the individual performance, she said that she was satisfied with what Mijač showed in Budapest.
"I believed that he could make it to the third round, where he would compete with the best opponents from the group. However, I would say that it wasn't exactly his day. In this kind of competition, nuances decide who goes on, and it is clear to us that we have to invest as much as possible in preparatory processes so that we can think about getting involved in the fight for a medal," Milacic said.
She emphasized that Mijač is up to the world level.
"He is a hard-working and dedicated competitor - we will analyze the performances in detail and do everything we can to make progress," Milacic concluded.
The women's team of Anja Jović, Ksenija Rajović, Vasilisa Bujić and Milena Jovanović was defeated in the first round by Kazakhstan 2:0.
It will depend on the further results of Kazakhstan whether they will continue the fight for a medal through the repechage tomorrow or finish their performance in Budapest.
The men's wrestling team - Nenad Dulović, Nikola Malović, Nemanja Jovović, Emre Saljiu, Lazar Jovović, Nemanja Mikulić and Lazar Potpara, was free in the first round, so tomorrow they expect a duel with Denmark, which at the start eliminated the United States of America 3 :2.
Tomorrow, in addition to the continuation of the competition in team fights in both competitions, the ceremonial opening of the championship is also planned.
On Saturday, the bronze medal matches and finals in kata and individual fights are on the program, and Nenad Dulović will have the opportunity to fight for the first senior gold medal at the European and world championships since the restoration of independence.
