From tomorrow until November 19, Budva and Podgorica will host the European Boxing Championship for senior men and women up to 22 years of age. After the ceremonial opening at 13,30:19 p.m., Budva, now not only the center of Montenegrin tourism but also of world boxing, will witness the fights until the final fights in SC "Morača" on November 19 from XNUMX p.m.
Montenegro will be represented by seven national team members at the grand competition with the participation of more than 300 competitors from 35 countries. Bojana Gojković in the category up to 57 kilograms and Nina Radenović up to 63, with five colleagues - Tomislav Đinović (up to 60 kg), Luka Gačević (up to 63,5), Đorđe Smolović (up to 71), Petar Liješević (up to 86) and Nikola Lekić (up to 92).
"Podgorica and "Morača" are history, it is a cult hall of Montenegrin boxing and we wanted it to feel the charm of "noble skill" again. We expect a full hall, because the audience knows boxing and we hope that our boxers will also be in the finals. They have quality , a class they reached through self-sacrifice, hardworking, dedicated and professional work, but they also have medals that are a sign of the achieved level and class," said Nikola Ružić, selector of our representative team.
Only his professional work, with the support of the first man of the Boxing Association Aleksandar Klemenko and the president of BK Budva Davor Dokić, made Budva host three major competitions under the auspices of the World Boxing Federation (IBA) and European (EUBC) this year alone.
And the president of the World Federation, Umar Kremljev, also provided a rich prize fund, so along with the gold medal, the winner will receive a check for 8.000 euros, the silver one for half the amount, and the bronze ones will be worth two thousand each. The quarter-finalists will receive EUR 1.000 each.
The draw was also made, Smolović had the least luck, who will have to win one more match to get a medal. He will box on the first day, tomorrow against the Pole Dariusz Znamec - the eighth fight in the session after 14 p.m. It is also known that our female boxers will not enter the ring of the Mediterranean Sports Center before Monday, Gojković will box with Rebeka Doboš from Hungary and Radenović against Gail Daćione with Malta.
Tomislav Đinović will be rivaled by Elijas Idrizi from Denmark, Marin Jelačić from Croatia against Luka Gačević. Petr Liješević will be opposed by Estonian Anton Vinogradov and Nikola Lekić by Moldovan Danijel Čojocari.
