Although born nine years later than Šada's hit - "Smooth operator", it was by singing that track that Carlos Sain Junior broke the great dominance of Max Fesratepan and Red Bull.
Ferrari driver Sainz from Madrid celebrated in the Australian Grand Prix, ahead of club mate Charles Leclerc, while the last step on the podium went to Lando Norris from McLaren, and only they were less than 35 seconds behind the winner.
Fourth was another McLaren driver, Oskar Piastri.
Due to technical problems, Max Verstappen in Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes and George Russell "broke" the Mercedes car had to leave the track.
"Really good race. The feeling was wonderful. Of course, it was a bit difficult for me, especially physically - it wasn't an easy race. But I was lucky, I mostly drove far from the others and I could adjust the pace, take care of the tires and so on further. It wasn't too difficult. But I'm happy, proud of the team and satisfied with what we achieved. It's an indication that hard work is rewarded and that life is sometimes strange," said 29-year-old Sains.
And it was the Mercedes tandem that ended the streak of 62 races in which they won points, which was the team's tied record from 2012-2016. And Hamilton will replace Sainz at Ferrari next season.
"But that's not all. Since the beginning of the year, the podium in Bahrain happened to me, then appendicitis and the return, victory... I advise all drivers to have appendicitis surgery in order to fight for victory," Sains joked.
Verstappen had a problem with the brakes and Sergio Peres failed to impose himself in the Red Bull car, he was fifth almost a minute late.
"We just didn't have the pace. The problems started immediately. It's clear that Ferrari and McLaren were ahead of us. The asphalt here is unique, and during the weekend we didn't manage to find the best level. There were already difficulties on Friday, we couldn't cope with the choice of tires .We have already seen that on a track like this or in Las Vegas, Ferrari is stronger than us, we cannot save the front tires," said Peres and added:
"Sains would definitely have won if Max could have stayed on the track".
And Sains also managed to disrupt the hegemony of Red Bull last year, who won 21 out of 22 races, only Sains managed to take first place in September in Singapore.
