From October 20 to November 6 this year, Budva will host the World Youth Boxing Championship, jointly organized by the Boxing Associations of Montenegro (BSCG) and Croatia, and with the support of the World Boxing Federation (IBA), it was decided at a meeting in Zagreb .
It is stated that the Federations will participate in the organization of that sports event in a friendly and fruitful cooperation.
"The World Youth Boxing Championship 2024 is undoubtedly one of the most significant sports events ever held in the region, and especially in Montenegro. The tournament is expected to gather around 1.500 participants (athletes, coaches, members of international sports delegations and fans) from at least 65-70 countries, from all continents," said BSCG president Aleksander Klemenko.
He pointed out that such cooperation in the organization of sports events is of global importance and that it makes a huge contribution to the development of sports and sports tourism, as well as to the development and strengthening of strong and long-term friendly international relations based on the foundations and inviolable principles of Olympism.
"BSCG plans to, with the support of the Government, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Olympic Committee, the Municipality of Budva, with great pride and responsibility, soon begin the process of preparing the organization of the World Youth Championship in 2024," said Klemneko.
He reminded that BSCG, in the past few years, was the organizer of several major sports events, including four European championships, two World Cups and Eurocups, which, according to experts' conclusions, were held at a very high and professional level.
"The IBA, appreciating the contribution of our national association in the development of European and world boxing, decided to exempt the BSCG from paying the mandatory registration fee for the organization of the World Championship in the amount of 500 thousand Swiss francs, which in itself is a significant recognition for our success and a great contribution to the development of the sport in Montenegro. The coach of the national team, Nikola Ružić, said that this is a great opportunity for Montenegro.
"This is a sensation, a great opportunity that should not be missed," said Ružić.
