The Boxing Federation of Montenegro addresses you with great respect and expresses a categorical protest due to the result of the referee's decision in the quarter-final fight of the qualifying boxing tournament in Bangkok, in the category of women up to 54 kg, between the representative of the Montenegrin team Bojana Gojković and Wang Hsiao Wen from Taipei, at 02.06.2024 .XNUMX.
Without going into the technical details and professional assessment of the actions of the judges of this fight (we will leave that to the experts you hired), we assure you that the result and quality of the judging of this fight, which decides on the distribution of the Olympic license in this weight category, showed a specific vivid example of unprofessionalism, possible corruption, in the trial of Olympic boxing. This is exactly what the IOC constantly fights against, accusing the IBA (World Boxing Federation) of insufficient quality control and objectivity of judging. But, in this case, the organizer of this qualification tournament is the IOC, not the IBA. Therefore, our appeal is addressed to you.
Van Hsiao Wen (TPE) is an outstanding boxer, two-time world champion, Olympic medalist, one of the hopes of Asia at the upcoming Olympic Games, kudos to her! But she lost this fight, and the Olympic license should have belonged to Bojana Gojković by right.
Montenegro is a small country, and we are a small Federation, but we are also equal and active members of the Olympic movement. We don't have many Olympians and every victory of our athletes is a holiday for the whole country.
Bojana Gojković is a four-time champion and six-time finalist of the European Championships in different age groups. She is the pride of our country, and we cannot afford to remain inactive when we see her Olympic license revoked as a result of an obvious, intentional or unintentional mistake.
Since the practice of holding Olympic qualifying tournaments in boxing under the auspices of the IOC is not that great, we do not know in detail the possibilities of the IOC to review the results of boxing matches, that is, the distribution of Olympic licenses.
