Two weeks before the opening of the Olympic Games, unique in that it will not be in the stadium as usual, but along the Seine River, Paris will host the Olympic Torch Relay on Sunday and Monday near the most famous monuments: the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Bastille Square, Pompidou Center, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre.
Around 540 selected individuals will carry the torch, and will pick it up at the most famous places in Paris.
The torch will be carried with popular dances, concerts, choirs and entertainment of all kinds.
There will be foreigners among the torchbearers, and the most popular are sprinter Marie-José Perec, comedian Jamel Debbouze, rugby player Gael Fickou, journalist Tomas Sotto and fencer Laura Flessel Flessel).
Indian businessman Lakshmi Mittal, whose company produced the torches for the Olympic flame of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, will also participate in the relay.
The torch will begin its journey through Paris on Sunday at noon, during the military parade for the national holiday, then it will be taken over by football player Thierry Henri, who will carry it along the Champs-Élysées avenue.
After passing the Parliament building, Notre Dame, the Senate and the Sorbonne, the torch will arrive at the Gare de Norte train station in the heart of Paris in the evening. Around 23.00:XNUMX p.m., it will be brought into the City Hall, when fireworks will be held near the Eiffel Tower.
The Fields of Mars near the Eiffel Tower will not be accessible to visitors as the site has been remodeled for some sporting events during the Olympics. The Olympic torch relay will be televised.
The torch will spend the night in the Town Hall, and on Monday it will go on a tour of other places, including Roland Garros, Montmartre, Moulin Rouge and the Boulogne Forest.
Sources close to the organization of the OI announced that the outgoing government of France, Gabriel Attal, will attend the torch handover all day.
