After two weeks of preparations, the women's volleyball team of Montenegro is waiting for the first control matches, before the beginning of the qualification for the European Championship.
Our best volleyball players will test their form in a double match against the Kosovo team, which will be a guest on Friday (20:13) and Saturday (XNUMX:XNUMX) at the Sports Hall "Nikoljac" in Bijelo Polje.
The head coach Milorad Krunić said that the senior players of Montenegro will play training matches at the right moment, which will help them check the current form and readiness of the team.
"As part of the preparations for the qualifications, we have two matches with Kosovo, a perfect opponent at this moment. The weekend after Kosovo, Austria is coming to us. I think that at this moment we have completed a series of friendly matches very well, so that we can meet the qualifications as quickly as possible. The course of preparations so far has gone satisfactorily, with a couple of minor injuries, we are all healthy, we are all here and training. Krunić and Popović joined us from the junior national team, so what we have is there and will remain in that lineup until the end to hone our form for Latvia," Krunić told the Association's website.
The most experienced in the team, Danijela Džaković, points out that the most important goal is the qualifying matches for the first step towards qualifying for the 2026 European Championship.
"Preparations have been going on for two weeks, we are getting ready for the first control match against Kosovo. Younger girls, who returned from the Balkaniade, joined us. The team is nice, you can see a lot of progress compared to the previous couple of years. We don't know what the quality of the Kosovo team is, but it doesn't matter to us. Our goal is more important, which is the qualification for the European Championship and the matches against Latvia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we hope for a positive outcome", said Džaković.
The senior women will play both matches with the Kosovo selection in the form of training matches.
The first qualifying match for EuroVolley 2026. Montenegro will play Latvia away on August 17, and eight days later, on August 25, in Bijelo Polje, they will welcome Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In August 2025, Milorad Krunić's team will play matches with the same rivals, at home against Latvia and away from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
