The former head of the CEV Volleyball Sector, Roko Sikirić, was elected as the new president of the European Volleyball Federation at the Electoral Congress in Naples.

He is the 10th president in the history of CEV.

The former Croatian national team member will succeed Aleksandar Boričić, to whom he gave a second term as the first man, in which he had been since 2015.

At the Congress, Sikirić received the majority support of the delegates, including representatives of the Volleyball Association of Montenegro, on whose behalf President Nikola Kažić and General Secretary Ivan Bošković voted.

In the second round, 36 representatives of national volleyball associations from Europe voted for Sikirić.

The Italian Renato Arena got 16, the Dane Erik Adler one vote, while none of the delegates voted for the Pole Leo Vensel.

"It is a great responsibility to lead CEV and I feel it towards all sides, national federations, clubs, players. I sincerely thank you for your support and promise to do my best, as I have done throughout this campaign," Sikirić said.
