Chess Olympiad, the 45th edition, and the first to be organized by Budapest - after hosting an unofficial edition back in 1926.
The city on the Danube and the "BOK Arena" are from today the center of the ancient game, the Olympics have been officially opened, and from tomorrow ten Montenegrin trumps will be looking for their dreams among the 1.890 competitors.
The selector of the men's national team, grandmaster, Dragan Kosić gave a chance to grandmasters: Nikita Petrov, Denis Kadrić, Nikola Đukić, Luka Drašković and international master Aleksandar Tomić.
On the other hand, the selector of the women's national team Dušan Lekić decided that our best national team in Budapest will be represented by: Aleksandra Žerebcova, Alena Skvorcova, Aleksandra Milović, Nikolina Koljević and Mateja Popović.
"Our delegation has arrived in the capital of Hungary, where they will try to make a good result in the fierce competition," said the Chess Federation of Montenegro.
Our men's team is in the 36th starting position in the competition of 193 teams, while the ladies are in the 42nd position in the competition of 181 teams.
"Our national teams in the first round are considered big favorites - the men's national team will compete with the best selection of Sri Lanka, while the women's opponents come from Liberia. Starting victories are expected, which will open this year's edition of the Olympics in the best way", added ŠSCG.
The games are scheduled every day from 15 p.m., and can be followed on all popular chess platforms.
The Chess Federation also emphasized that Montenegro will be represented at this competition by our best judge, Igor Vujačić.
