Olbia, in the Italian province of Sardinia, will host the 30th Mediterranean Karate Championship from Friday to Sunday, which will bring together 409 competitors from 18 countries, the Karate Association announced.
It is stated that the participants will fight for medals in the cadet, junior and senior competitions, in katas and fights, individually and as a team, in the men's and women's competition.
Montenegrin karate will be represented by eight competitors. In the competition for seniors, the kata team consisting of Vladimir Mijač, Arijan Kočan and Kenan Nikočević will perform.
Their performance in Olbia is part of the preparations for the World Cup. All three will compete for medals in the individual competition.
Juniors Benjamin Aljošević and Saša Petrić will also compete in the categories, and Mihailo Gojaković (over 76 kg) will compete in the junior competition.
In the senior competition, Lazar Jovović (up to 75) and Nemanja Mikulić (up to 84) will be on the mat.
Montenegrin competitors will be led by coaches Milena Milačić and Almir Cecunjanin.
Tomorrow, on the first day of the competition, Mijač, Kočan and Nikočević will be on the mats in the individual competition. A day later, the performance of juniors in katas and fights is scheduled, and on Sunday, the kata team and seniors will perform in fights.
