The Montenegrin Commission announced that they received official confirmation from WADA for this.
Director of the Anti-Doping Commission of Montenegro, Olivera Prodanović, said that this confirmation comes as a result of hard activities and strict application of all critical compliance requirements, which further strengthens Montenegro's commitment to the fight against doping in sports.
"We are proud of the results so far, but we are aware that this is a continuous process that requires constant improvements and adaptation to new challenges in the fight against doping, and we will be dedicated to this in the coming period," said Prodanović.
She emphasized that compliance with the Code and international standards is key to preserving the integrity of sports and protecting clean athletes.
Prodanović emphasized that this confirmation is important for maintaining integrity and trust in sports competitions.
She clarified that WADA has a duty to constantly monitor anti-doping rules, regulations and legislation of the signatory state, through a compliance monitoring program, to ensure that they are in line with the Code and relevant international standards.
"The official confirmation of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code was preceded by the completion of a questionnaire on compliance with the Code, which includes a number of areas of key importance for anti-doping activities, such as testing, biological passport of athletes, management of results, education of athletes and professional staff", she explained. Prodanović.
She pointed out that non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code can have serious consequences for sports organizations and countries, including a ban on wearing national symbols at international competitions, a ban on participation in international competitions and their organization.
Thanks to the commitment of the Anti-Doping Commission, as assessed by Prodanović, Montenegro continues to meet the requirements for compliance with the WADA code.
She added that, in addition to testing and control, the Commission's focus is also on education.
"We are working to raise awareness about the consequences of doping among athletes of all ages, so that they can choose a clean career path, based on talent and dedicated work. Only through joint efforts, we can preserve the integrity of the sport and provide safety for our athletes", added Prodanović.
The Anti-Doping Commission of Montenegro was established with the aim of implementing anti-doping policies, monitoring athletes and providing education on the importance of the fight against doping.
The announcement states that, along with the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, which has been a signatory to the Code since 2010, the Commission is committed to implementing anti-doping policy provisions that ensure fair and equal conditions for all athletes.
"Through cooperation with the World Anti-Doping Agency and relevant international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Commission is actively working to preserve sports competitions in Montenegro in clean conditions, with the aim of promoting healthy sports and fair play," the statement said.
