Montenegrin boxer Bojana Gojković finished her performance at the European Under-23 Championship in Sofia with a silver medal.
Today, in the finals of the category up to 57 kilograms, she was defeated by the judges by overriding the French Stellini Grossi - 3:2.
Gojković, in an even fight in which the outcome could have been different, offered strong resistance and was an equal, in some periods of the fight even a better rival, but the judges ruled in favor of the French woman.
The selector Nikola Ružić said that the match was equal and that the judges would not have made a mistake and that they declared the Montenegrin boxer the winner.
"It was an even match, in which nuances decided. I am satisfied with how she boxed in the final. Bojana's biggest problem was an injury to her nose, from a blow to the head of the Belarusian in the semi-final. It was not broken, but it was swollen and she was in a lot of pain. She had to receive anesthesia before match. That may have influenced the later start in the first round, and she didn't lose the other two in my opinion," said Ružić.
Gojković eliminated Olivia Grace Holmes from England, Rebeka Doboš from Hungary and Marina Muliarcik from Belarus on her way to the final.
Commenting on the performances of the other Montenegrin boxers, Ružić said that he was satisfied with the result of Tomislav Đinović and the way he got the bronze medal.
"He won two matches and lost on points to the local boxer Radoslav Rosenov. I am satisfied with how he boxed in that match as well, despite the defeat. I like the way he boxed more than in the previous fights he won," said Ružić. .
Petar Liješević also boxed in Sofia, but the path of the best European under-22 boxer last season was stopped by an injury in the round of XNUMX.
