The European Chess Championship, which is held in Petrovac, continued with the games of the second round, which passed without major surprises.
The only Montenegrin representative who has the maximum effect is the current champion of Montenegro, Grandmaster Nikita Petrov.
In the second round, Petrov outplayed Vugar Manafov with white pieces in the Sicilian defense, and ended the game with an effective rook sacrifice, so the international master from Azerbaijan stopped the resistance after only 22 moves.
Petrov maintained his maximum performance after two rounds, and in addition to him, there are 46 other chess players in the leading group, among whom is the first holder of the tournament, Vladimir Fedoseev.
The first move in the duel between Fedoseev and Jonaidis was made by the president of the Balkan Chess Federation, Grandmaster Erald Derviši.
Denis Kadrić failed to overcome Lukas Dotzer from Austria, so after the start victory he had to settle for a draw in the second round.
Nikola Đukić drew the second game as well, and it is expected that our ten-time champion will provide better games in the rest of the tournament and show a bit of his unquestionable class.
Andrej Šuković, Dušan Lekić and Peko Đurović recorded their first victories in the tournament, while Nikolina Koljević won a draw.
Tomorrow is the third round, out of the planned 11.
The prize fund amounts to 100 thousand euros, the organizers of the championship are the Chess Federation of Montenegro in cooperation with the European Chess Union, under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
