The former Acting General Secretary of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) Igor Vušurović was unanimously relieved of his duties, and he will be replaced by Andrija Popović, it was decided at the constitutive session of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the umbrella association of Montenegrin sports.
It was announced that Popović was appointed for a period of six months.
The Rules of Procedure of the Board of Directors of COK were also adopted, which will regulate the work and responsibilities of the members of that body, which aims to increase efficiency and transparency in decision-making.
In the coming period, a working version of the new Rulebook on the selection of the sportsman of the year will be prepared, in which all members of the Management Board will be involved.
"The rulebook aims to improve and further specify the criteria for the selection of the best sportsmen/sportswomen of Montenegro. A Commission for the selection of the best young sportsmen and national teams has been formed, whose members will be Dimitrija Rašović, Nikola Perišić and Jelena Dubljević. The task of that commission will be selection and awarding of the most talented young athletes, which is intended to encourage their further development and progress," the announcement reads.
It is also planned to form permanent commissions of the COK, which will cover various aspects of the association's work.
It was announced that the Sports Commission will remain in the same composition and continue its work for another mandate period.
"One of the important activities will be the collection of data for the categorization of sports for the period 2025-2027. In this regard, an invitation will be sent to the national sports federations to submit relevant data, and the work on this will be taken over by a committee composed of Vanjo Mugoš, Danijela Franet and Jovica Rečević," the announcement reads.
It was announced that Vanja Mugoša will take over the management of COK Arbitration, and on December 11, a round table with the Association of Lawyers of Montenegro is planned, where legal issues of importance for sports in Montenegro will be discussed.
The COK Assembly, at the session held on October 25, elected a new Management Board, consisting of: Dušan Simonović (president), Bojana Popović (vice-president), Jovica Rečević, Dragoljub Kopitović, Rajko Kosić, Vanja Mugoša, Radmila Petrović, Dimitrije Rašović , Zorica Kostić - Vučićević, Gojko Banjević, Jelena Dubljević, Nikola Kažić, Momir Đurđevac, Danijela Franeta, Nikola Perišić and Predrag Vukčević.
It was announced that five of the 16 members of the Management Board are women, which represents an increase of 150 percent compared to the previous Management Board, which had only two members.
It was announced that one position in the Board of Directors will be filled after consultation with the newly elected leadership of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro.
