Montenegrin chess player Nikola Đukić achieved victory, Serbian grandmaster Aleksandar Inđić also celebrated and retained the leading position with a point advantage after the seventh round of the European Singles Championship in Petrovac.
In the round derby, with black pieces, Inđić outplayed the first favorite according to the rating, Vladimir Fedosejev, and established himself at the head of the table ahead of the last four rounds.
Đukić achieved his second victory, so with five draws he is in the group of players with 4,5 points.
He distinguished himself for the second time for the English opening and achieved an important victory against Hristos Kralis with a precise game.
The most successful until this round, grandmaster Nikita Petrov, drew in a duel with Kazar Babazad from Azerbaijan, after an initial test of strength, while Denis Kadric continued with oscillations and was defeated by Zhu Yang Fan, who represents England.
Peko Đurović, Zoran Lakušić and Danilo Mitrović scored victories in yesterday's round, while the games of Dušan Lekić, Aleksandra Žerebcova, Veljko Šćekić and Milan Minić ended in a draw.
Today is the eighth round, out of the planned 11.
A big fight will follow, and the remaining four days will bring a spectacular end to the European Individual Championship, which gathered almost 400 chess players from 42 countries in Petrovac.
